An article on coach education that I wrote has been published today by the GPTCA, the ATP’s recognized coaching association. The article outlines an innovative coach centered system for educating and developing coaches at various levels of the game from 10 and under coaching to being a coach on the professional tour and to motivate each coach to continue to improve themselves as coaches. The system develops coaches in a similar way to how performance tennis players are developed and can be adapted in each nation depending on the country’s priorities.
The current level of the coaches is first evaluated based on various factors including their past experience as players, their education and certification and success with players at various levels. Each coach is then helped to put in place an agreed coach centered development plan to improve themselves linked to where they want to be working as coaches in the future, short and long term.

I hope you find the article and the system outlined interesting.
