Today was a big Davis Cup day and I enjoyed very much my two days at the Egypt/Norway tie. Well done to the Egyptian team that I am pictured with, that won 4-0. It’s a pity my country Ireland lost to Denmark as now Egypt play Denmark instead of Ireland in the next round.

Davis Cup is close to my heart not just because I worked for the ITF for 25 years but also because my grandfather Jack Miley, seated right in the black and white photo shown, was the first Irish Davis Cup captain in 1923 against India following Irish independence. Ireland won 4-1 and then lost a second round to a French team containing the 4 musketeers.
