The tennis world is very small and last week I spoke about my ex doubles partner Geoff McDonald staying at my house with his player Astra Sharna, who was in the main draw of the Ladies’ Singles.

I had another example of this at Wimbledon this week.

I met up with the President of the Bolivian Tennis Federation, Ricardo  Aguirre, who was attending the championships. It turns out that we played US college tennis at the same university, Lander University. We both played on the team, under successful coach Joe Cabri (pictured with me last year), but he played seven years after I left. Ricardo won three NCAA titles.

We had a great time discussing our time as young men at Lander and also spoke a lot about the ITF and the current state of world tennis. We also were lucky to watch together Nadal play Federer yesterday, a battle that will go down in the record books as one of the greatest matches.

Ricardo and Dave – the Lander dream team- 30 years later!
